Example Files

The examples directory in the repository contains annotated mzTab-M files covering common experimental scenarios.

Available Examples

Examples are provided for the following scenarios (see the repository for the full list):

  • Lipidomics experiment with positive and negative ion mode

  • Metabolomics study with multiple study variables

  • MS1-only summary reporting (no SMF/SME)

  • Full evidence chain from feature to identification (MTD + SML + SMF + SME)

  • Submission-ready files for MetaboLights

Using the Examples

Each example file can be validated with the web validator to confirm it conforms to the specification.

The jmzTab-m library includes a test suite that exercises all examples; they are a good starting point for integration testing.

Contributing Examples

If you have a well-characterised dataset that illustrates a scenario not covered above, please open a pull request against the mzTab-M repository with your example file and a brief description.
